About Us

Diagnoplex has been founded in 2005 supported by seed financing fron the Novartis Forschungsstiftung, Swiss Confederation CTI project, Canton de Vaud FIT and the Gebert Rüf Stiftung. The company has performed a 140 patient prospective pilot study demonstrating technical and clinical feasibility of its colorectal cancer screening test COLOX as well as its high sensitivity and specificity.

Business Model

Diagnoplex business model is straightforward: we discover and optimize biomarker combinations to detect cancers at an early stage. Leveraging our proprietary molecular platform, we optimize the biomarker panels in pilot clinical studies. We intend to generate revenues through out-licensing or partnering. The company’s sound financial basis enables it to successfully bring its early stage cancer screening test to the pre-commercialization stage.

Market Potential

Around 200 million people at risk worldwide should consider consulting for colorectal cancer. Less than 20% of them do so.
Medicare reimbursement records for the USA show that only 14% of Americans over the age of 65 are screened for colorectal cancer. This low percentage is the result of a psychological barrier due to the invasiveness and uncomfortable nature of colonoscopy.
Colonoscopy is at present the only colorectal cancer screening tool fully recognized by the medical community.
The market opportunity is therefore considerable: investigations regarding colorectal cancer screening have revealed a substantial market size considering that every person over the age of 50 should be tested. The estimated market size for the 200 million people at risk worldwide is in excess of CHF 20 Billion per year worldwide (Biosource).
